A very poor weather forecast may have dissuaded many members to leave the
comfort of their homes and venture out. As it was, the really bad stuff held off and the
hardy souls who came with their sixteen hounds enjoyed a very good walk.
Several Committee members were unable to attend, including our respected Chairman
and Jill who were unfortunately without transport (a troubled Mazda Bongo). Another
absentee was our Webmaster who had prior family commitments
and later admitted that he
had also actually forgotten that there was a walk. He did have family commitments though! WM What is the website for?
It was great as always to see our loyal Belgium friends, Hugs and John. Their three lovely
boys swelling our numbers.
Also, a Basset Hound owner who currently lives in Oz, but is planning to return the this
Septic Isle, had turned up to check us out with the prospect of joining the Club. At least
someone out there bothers to look at the website.
I noticed that while at the Winnie the Pooh clearing flowers and a soft toy of Eeyore had
been left at the bronze plaque. I'm not too sure what anniversary this marked, I don't think it
was for the author, but instead E H Shephard (also mentioned on the plaque)
the most
famous of Pooh's illustrators who had died on the 24th March in 1976 , aged 96.
Perhaps it was for him.

This walk certainly test the stamina
of some of our members and our elderly
hounds. It requires climbing a few quite
steep inclines at the end, but I'm sure
the all felt all the better at the end for
the endeavour.
Many thanks to all those who made
the effort to attend.
